Our editorial content covers broadcast studio design, camera control systems, professional lighting arrangements, sound engineering practice, and the workflows used by television networks and live events. Our content is aimed at professional and semi-professional technicians, engineers, production managers, studio operators, students of media and live production, and anyone responsible for commissioning or managing audiovisual facilities.

4.1 What the content is, and what it is not

Our guidance is general in nature. It is not a substitute for a site-specific risk assessment, a structural or electrical assessment by a competent person, or professional advice tailored to your circumstances. Technical standards, equipment firmware and legislation change over time; you are responsible for verifying the current requirements that apply to your own project, including health and safety and electrical safety obligations.

5. Access to the Site and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable permission to access and use the Site for lawful purposes in accordance with this notice and our Terms and Conditions. You are responsible for the equipment, software, and internet connection you use to access the Site.

  • Reproduce, resell, sublicense, or redistribute our course materials, in whole or in part, for commercial purposes.
  • Post or send content that is unlawful, misleading, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or that infringes the rights of any other person.
  • Misrepresent your identity or your affiliation with any person or organisation.

5.2 Suspension and termination

If we reasonably believe that you have breached this notice, we may suspend or withdraw your access to the Site or to any course, remove content, and take legal action where appropriate. Where a suspension arises from a breach of these rules, we may also refuse further bookings. We will act proportionately and will normally explain the reason, unless doing so would undermine security or an investigation.

6. Ownership of content, trademarks and intellectual property

All content on the Site, including text, course materials, diagrams, photographs, video, audio, layout, and source code, is protected by copyright, database rights, and other intellectual property rights, and is owned by or licensed to Adlib Audio Limited. The content is generally protected as the copyright of Adlib Audio Limited, and all rights are reserved.

6.1 Permitted use of our content

You may view, download, and print pages from the Site for your own personal, non-commercial reference, provided you do not remove any copyright or other notices. Any other use requires our prior written permission, including republishing content, adapting or creating derivative works, using content for training purposes within another organisation, framing or mirroring the Site, or using our content to train automated systems.

6.2 Reports of infringement

If you believe that material on the Site infringes your rights, please contact [email protected] with details of the material, the right you say has been infringed, and evidence of your ownership. We will investigate promptly and will remove or amend material where we consider this appropriate.

7. Accuracy, availability and limitation of liability

We take reasonable care to ensure that information on the Site is accurate and current when it is published. Technical content can, however, become out of date, and information may occasionally contain errors or omissions. We do not guarantee that the Site or its content will always be accurate, complete, or up to date.

7.1 Availability

The Site is made available on an "as available" basis. We may suspend, withdraw, or restrict access to all or part of the Site for maintenance, security, or business reasons, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or freedom from errors. We are not liable to you for any loss caused by a period in which the Site is unavailable, except where this notice says otherwise.

7.2 Limits of our liability

Nothing in this notice excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under English law, including your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable to business users for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, loss of anticipated savings, or any indirect or consequential loss arising out of or in connection with the use of the Site or reliance on its content. To the extent that we may limit our liability to business users, our total liability in relation to the Site is limited to the amounts paid by you to us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing on the Site constitutes professional engineering, legal, tax, or health and safety advice for your particular project, and you remain responsible for the decisions you take.

8. External links and third-party content

The Site may contain links to third-party websites, embedded players, or references to third-party products, services and events. These are provided for convenience and information only. We do not control those websites and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, security, or privacy practices.

A link does not imply that we endorse the linked site or its operator, and any dealings you have with a third party are between you and that third party. Third-party pages may set cookies or collect data under their own policies; please check their terms and cookie notices before using them. Our own use of cookies is described in our Cookie Policy.

9. Other policies and terms that apply to the Site

The following documents form part of the terms on which the Site is provided, and you should read them alongside this page:

  • Our Privacy Policy, which explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights available to you.
  • Our Cookie Policy, which lists the cookies and similar technologies used on the Site, their purposes, and how to manage or withdraw your consent.
  • Our Terms and Conditions, which set out the rules for booking and attending courses, use of accounts, and the supply of goods and services.
  • Our Payment and Refund Policy, which explains accepted payment methods, invoicing, cancellation rights, refunds, and how to change or cancel a booking.

Where there is a conflict between this legal information page and a signed contract or a set of terms agreed with you in writing, the signed contract or agreed terms will take precedence for that transaction.

10. Data protection, cookies and electronic marketing

We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR). We collect only the personal data we need, for specified purposes, and we keep it only for as long as is necessary for those purposes or as required by law.

Depending on how you use the Site, our lawful bases for processing may include the performance of a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site, and your consent, for example for non-essential cookies or marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, and the right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, which is the supervisory authority for the United Kingdom. Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies used on the Site and how you can manage them through the cookie banner or your browser settings.

We send marketing communications only where we have your consent, or where a soft opt-in is available because you have previously bought similar services from us. Every marketing message includes a straightforward way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to stop at any time by writing to [email protected].

11. Consumer rights, complaints and dispute resolution

If you are a consumer, you benefit from rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which requires services to be performed with reasonable care and skill, and digital content and goods to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Where we supply services at a distance, you may also have a fourteen-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, beginning on the day the contract is concluded. That right does not apply where a course, download, or other digital content has been supplied and accessed with your express consent and acknowledgement that you lose the right to cancel.

If something has gone wrong, please contact us first at [email protected] with your booking or order reference and a short description of the problem. We will acknowledge your complaint, investigate it, and aim to give you a substantive reply within fourteen days. If we cannot resolve the matter, you may wish to seek independent advice from Citizens Advice or another consumer advisory service.

We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution, and we do not currently subscribe to an approved ADR scheme for consumer disputes. Nothing in this section affects your right to bring court proceedings, and nothing limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Applicable law and jurisdiction

This notice, its subject matter, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it or the use of the Site (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a business, you and we both agree that the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

If you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live, and the corresponding law and jurisdiction rules that protect consumers will apply. Nothing in this notice seeks to deprive consumers of the protection afforded by the mandatory rules of the law of their country of residence where those rules cannot be excluded.

13. Changes to this page, contact route and last-updated date

We may amend this legal information page from time to time to reflect changes in our services, our policies, or the law. The revised version will be published on this page with a new last-updated date. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention, for example by a notice on the Site or by email where we hold a current address for you. Continued use of the Site after a change takes effect means that you accept the revised version.
